Acute moisturizing effects of palm-based lotions

An acute moisturizing efficacy study was conducted by using MPOB’s palm-based cosmetic products namely Palmianis lotion with vitamin E, goat’s milk lotion and Whitening Lotion 1. A total of 13 volunteers were involved in the study. The skin hydration was measured several times at different intervals (30, 60, 90, 120 and 180 min) after a single application of the product. Full statistical analysis using ANOVA and Tukey Honestly Significantly Different (HSD) tests were carried out on the data using statistical software, SPSS. The results showed that all the three cosmetic products significantly increased skin hydration compared to the control. The products elevated the skin hydration level up to 34%-50% after 90 min of a single application and were able to maintain it for 90 min.
