Techno-economic suitability of palm oil for food products in the UK Market

This paper, based partly on a detailed UK market study for palm oil, provides tabulated data on the estimated average intake of visible edible oils and fats in the UK in 1960, 1970 and 1980 (kg/head/yr), the estimated UK usage of refined palm oil in food products in 1976-1981(margarine, compound cooking fats, others including retail cooking oil/fats, catering frying media, industrial frying media, confectionery fats, dehydrated soups, ice cream, non-dairy products), t of palm oil used in main food uses and % share of edible oils/fats, oils and fats consumption in the manufacture of margarines (palm, rapeseed, soybean, total marine, total animal), estimated consumption of margarines by type and end-use (soft, hard, total, for household, catering, industrial, export use), and exports (t) of palm oil to the UK from Malaysia and Singapore (crude and processed).
