Kelembapan yang ada pada field capacity'(F.C.) ditentukan melalui &#8216;direct sampling&#8217;, sementara kelembapan yang ada pada &#8216;permanent wilting point&#8217; (P.W.P.) diukur dimakmal dengan menggunakan alat plat tekanan. Perbezaan di antara kedua-dua ukuran dijadikan sebagai keupayaan menyimpan air. Air yang disimpan di paras F.C. dan P.W.P. (dari segi isipadu) mempunyai persamaan yang tinggi dengan kandungan tanah liat dan juga kandungan bahan organik. Berdasarkan kepada hasil purata tiap-tiap 22 sampel percubaan, purata keupayaan menyimpan air bahagian atas tanah (90 cm) adalah seperti berikut: Batuan igneus asid bijian kasar = 100 \u00b1 19 mm m-1Batuan mendak = 127 \u00b1 16 mm m-1Aluvium muara atau sungai = 175 \u00b1 16 mm m-1Aluvium marin = 236 \u00b1 3 mm m-1Gambut = 413 mm m-1Purata ini boleh digunakan untuk menganggar keupayaan menyimpan air tanah-tanah lain.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Keupayaan menyimpan air 100 jenis tanah dari kawasan percubaan baja di Semenanjung Malaysia telah ditentukan.
